CBS is still paying out their $5 million settlement to a former employee who alleged that former Executive Producer of “60 Minutes”, Don Hewitt, sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions and ruined her career.
CBS board of directors hired a legal team to investigate sexual harassment allegations against former CEO Les Moonves as well as to investigate the culture of alleged sexual misconduct surrounding the famous “60 Minutes” program.
The investigators released a draft report of their investigation to the New York Times, which revealed a pervasive culture of sexual harassment under Don Hewitt and even worse under the Executive Producer, Jeff Fager, who replaced Hewitt after he died in 2009.
According to the New York Times, the report accuses Fager of groping women, trying to kiss colleagues, and requesting that employees drive him to a brothel.
Fager responded to the report, stating that the investigators did not contact him and give him the opportunity to respond to the allegations prior to releasing the draft to the New York Times. He states that the first time he heard the allegations were from the New York Times.
CBS is not the first media company to be in hot water over sexual assault and misconduct allegations. Fox News and NPR have also recently faced sexual harassment allegations.
