In recent news, Mariah Carey settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with her ex-manager who alleged that Carey was often nude in front of her.
Stella Bulochnikov managed Carey for 3 years through November 2017. An attorney for Bulochnikov stated that both parties reached a mutually agreed resolution, even though at the time the lawsuit was filed in April 2018, a spokesperson for Carey called the accusations ‘baseless’. The lawsuit filed in New York, alleged that Carey breached their contract and violated the U.S. Civil Rights Act.
The lawsuit further alleged that the Carey would frequently walk around nude in Bulochnikov’s presence and made the ex-manager uncomfortable and that Carey owed Bulochnikov millions of dollars in commissions that were never paid.
Although the lawsuit sought undisclosed damages, it’s unclear whether the resolution includes a financial settlement. It was stated, however, that each party was to pay their own legal costs.
Mariah Carey is not the only famous person in the news recently to be the center of sexual harassment allegations. Multiple women have come forward to allege that they faced sexual harassment and sexism on the Bernie Sanders campaign trail in 2016 by campaign staffers. Additionally, today it was announced that John Lassiter is to be CEO of Skydance Animation, despite the sexual harassment allegations that caused him to be let go from Disney.
